The "Thoroughbred" hybrid uprights were a last ditch attempt by ATP to diversify and generate revenue in 2002 - 2004. The V70 had a MSRP of $695 in 2004, and with upgraded components the V72 went for $859. See ATP's original V70 and V72 Thoroughbred Literature in PDF format.

Jonathan Garcia's Vision V70 Thoroughbred. Image posted Feb. 6, 2019. RoseCityRecumbentCycles.com. Jonathan comments: "My beautiful Vision V70 Thoroughbred. I waited 15 years before one came into my shop as a trade in. I have replaced nearly everything and now it is as close to perfection as a commuter upright can be. I still prefer my recumbents, but this is my choice when I have to go upright! Notable changes are the 650c wheels, the riser Jones bars (with reverse stem for proper ergonomics) and the RANS Phoenix bag we designed to fit the triangle of the RANS Phoenix, but happens to fit the V70 really well. I have quite a few in stock if anyone would like one for their Vision."

Here's a nice example of a 2002 V70 that was completely rebuilt. Photos by Edgar K. Atkins of Orlando, Florida (atombikes). Taken in June, 2009, via flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/32910499@N07/3650468504/.

Mar. 24, 2011, Ed changed the seat and handlebars..."I bought this frame 2 summers ago, and originally built it up using a set of Baccheta highracer bars, and one of those Schwinn branded comfort seats with no seat horn. I liked the bike, but never really got comfortable on it, partly due to the bars and seat. I subsequently got a RANS Sequoia and the Vision sat in the corner all last year. Well, spring fever struck, and I found myself staring at that bike wondering what I could do different. I threw on a seat more like the bike was designed for and flipped a set of comfort bars....huge difference! I may actually favor this bike over the Sequoia this summer. I still think I might try to find a compromise between the current seat and the RANS style seat, but the bars are dead on. Amazing what the proper setup will do. I swapped the RANS CF seat over to the Vision. I had to squeeze the Schwinn seat frame slightly to align the holes, and used the RANS fasteners. All in all very easy. But the front of the Schwinn seat frame interferes with a molded in brace that goes across the RANS seat pan, so right now the seat pan brace is resting on top of the seat frame...." http://www.bentrideronline.com/messageboard/showthread.php?p=758471
Ed Atkins sold the bike via the BROL forum to riqmar in the central Oregon coast, Nov. 27, 2014.

It looks like ATP may have made a "small frame" version of the V70, where the top tube attached lower on the head tube. This seems to be an example... Cat sends these photos and comments: "Left: a photo the previous owner took of the bike to sell it, and she literally never rode it - her son stuck some extra bits on there, but it was otherwise brand new. The right photo is of the bike modified with an XtraCycle which was AMAZING. this is almost certainly the only one ever converted to a cargo bike! An interesting factoid about this bike - it was apparently one of the. very. last. ones. made. I needed something adjusted on it (seat post was a poor fit) and through sheer coincidence the guy used to work for Vision (I was in Seattle, so it wasn't that far fetched) and he said that toward the end, they were literally using any tubular bike-frame material to make the last bikes - and thus the down-tube on my bike was a totally off the wall diameter. He had to just shim the hell out of my seat post LOL! I thought that was a pretty cool random fact to find out :) He was also really enthused to get to work on one, and thrilled that I loved it."

Prototype Vision Semi Recumbent Bicycle Seattle made Vision semi recumbent. Vision made a handful of generic equipped R-70's, and only one with customized high end equipment. Bike had no markings on it, so i used Colnago markings to spoof the purist. I did a few upgrades and rode it enough to dial it in, then blew out my back. More details available. Will adjust to fit 5'6"-6'3". Cash and local pickup only. &850. https://us.letgo.com/en/i/prototype-vision-semi-recumbent-bicycle_799e70c0-8004-4ee3-b9c9-3dac58040cf5
